Caucuses are less than a month away! Sign up here to caucus for Jamison. Still have questions about caucusing and conventions? Check out our FAQs below.

Caucusing 101:

    • A precinct caucus is a gathering of you and your neighbors/community members where you meet to discuss local issues and elect delegates to your Ward’s endorsing convention.

    • Precinct caucuses help determine what the DFL platform looks like, which is why it’s important to caucus so that you can make sure that the issues you care about are elevated and discussed.

    • Precinct caucuses are also the first opportunity for candidates running for office to make their case to potential delegates, so if you’re interested in hearing from Jamison or any other candidates for the many municipal races happening this year (Mayor, Park Board, etc.) make sure to caucus!

  • Minneapolis will be holding its precinct caucuses on April 8th starting at 7:00 pm.

  • Team Jamison is planning on having a strong showing at precinct caucuses. Fill out our form here to let us know that we can count on your support!

    • Caucuses will be held at Justice Page Middle School at 1 W 49th St, 55419

    • Caucuses will start around 7:00 pm on April 8th.

    • It is likely that candidates who are running for office will stop by your caucus and introduce themselves, make a brief speech, and you may have the opportunity to ask them questions about their campaign.

    • The final order of business will be to elect delegates to the endorsing convention. While we know that caucuses can last a long time, we encourage you to stay as long as possible to ensure that you are elected as a delegate to support Jamison at the Ward 11 convention in May.

    • Caucuses can be a lengthy affair. It is possible that a caucus night can last two hours or more, but many caucuses have also met and adjourned within an hour. We recommend preparing for a longer caucus; which could mean bringing water, a snack or two, or anything that you might need to stay comfortable until the end of the caucus.

    • While caucuses are an in-person event, you don’t have to be there in order to participate! If you have a conflict, you can fill out a non-attendee form so that you can still express your support for Jamison.

    • If you can’t make it and want to be a delegate at the Ward 11 Convention you must indicate that you would like to be a delegate on your form.

Forms must be submitted by 7:00 pm on April 5th.

    • An endorsing convention is the final step in this entire process. At a convention, delegates will gather and vote to endorse candidates for office at all levels of the state government.

    • This year, the offices up for election—and endorsement—are municipal offices, including City Council, Mayor, Park Board, and the Board of Estimate and Taxation.

    • Candidates who are seeking an endorsement will need to win 60% of the vote of the delegates present.

The Ward 11 Convention will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025.

    • At a precinct caucuses, the attendees elect delegates to attend an endorsing convention. At the endorsing convention, delegates will vote to endorse candidates running for office. Candidates need to win 60% of the vote in order to be endorsed by the DFL.

    • This year, there are two types of conventions: the ward conventions and the city conventions. If you want to attend the ward convention, you are not obligated to also attend the city convention!

    • Jamison Whiting is seeking the Ward 11 DFL Endorsement, so make sure you run to be a delegate—or you can support a neighbor who is running to be a delegate for Jamison!

    • Endorsing conventions are famously (or infamously) lengthy affairs. Typically, conventions can be expected to last several hours, and sometimes can go all day long.

    • Similar to precinct caucuses, we urge delegates to arrive prepared for a long day. You can expect to spend a long time sitting in a room, but there will also be breaks and opportunities for you to stretch your legs. Team Jamison will also have a hospitality room where you can relax and grab snacks or food during any breaks.

    • At the Ward 11 Convention, the main goal is to endorse a candidate. In order to win the endorsement, a candidate must secure 60% of the vote. In competitive races, there will likely be multiple ballots before a candidate is endorsed, and sometimes, conventions end without an endorsement.

We intend to have a strong presence at the Ward 11 Convention and our goal is to win the endorsement on the first ballot. In order to do this, we need you and your neighbors to caucus, run to be delegates, and vote for Jamison at the ward convention.
